Nidhi’s a dream

Nidhi Subbaiah tells TOI about the difficult song sequence she shot for as part of Pancharangi.....
Nidhi’s a dream
You could say Nidhi Subbaiah had a dream run while shooting the song, Udisuve, for Yograj Bhat’s Pancharangi. But for the actress, who had to dance to a dream sequence with co-star Diganth, it was no easy feat. “The costume I wore weighed around four kg and I had 20 people around me to lift it,” she laughs.
This contemporary dance sequence has Nidhi and Diganth wearing four different costumes.

“It took me nearly half a day to get into the costume and to get my make-up done. The extended tube top is one of the four looks,” says Nidhi. “Diganth had to walk around me, but kept tripping over my dress and made me fall. If the film has a bloopers sequence at the end, it’ll be fun to watch,” she says.
Nidhi credits dancer Mayuri Upadhyay and Yograj Bhat for coming up with the concept for this sequence. And she’s all for the current trend of hiring designers and stylists for Sandalwood films. “It’s always important how you look in front of the camera. Your confidence increases if your costumes, hair and make-up are right. It adds to the character,” says Nidhi.
The actress, who’s completed work on Pancharangi, is replacing Ragini Dwivedi in Veera Bahu, in which she is cast opposite Duniya Vijay. “It’s because of Bhatru, who gave me the opportunity to work with him in Pancharangi, that I’m getting good projects,” says Nidhi, who’ll start shooting for Veera Bahu early next month.
